It's not an exaggeration to say that almost every weekend is spent working on our house.  How else will we ever finish it?

Just for some fun, we at least try to cook breakfast together Saturday morning before starting in on a project.

Cameron usually takes care of the bacon and eggs, and I whip up some waffles. These are a favorite in this house! It's a super easy recipe I stole from a friend's cookbook. If you don't have a waffle maker, you may want to go get one. I promise you won't regret it!

These are a great way to jump start your weekend, especially if you can get your hands on some real Canadian maple syrup!

The stair project is on the agenda for this weekend.  Cameron picked up some primer last night, so I guess that means we're almost ready to paint!

For those who asked, we are painting the stairs (risers and treads) and then putting a clear protective coat on the walnut banister.

Eventually we'll add a runner too. Most likely something made of natural fibers, such as sisal or jute for a classic look.

This picture gives you an idea of what we're going for:
So, now you know what our weekend looks like! Do you have any Saturday morning traditions or routines?

  1. Yum! Can I come over for breakfast tomorrow? :-)

    1. Of course....but you run the risk of being put to work by Cameron!

  2. Good luck with the stair will look fantastic! Have a lovely breakfast and don't work too hard!
P.S. We're going to the DC FLEA MARKET with Eddie Ross..can't wait!

  3. I remember enjoying your delicious waffles just a short time ago. I think maybe you have inspired me to make them for tomorrows breakfast. I will have to first take my waffle iron out of its box where it has been for the last 3yrs or so. Strawberries are on here in Mexico right now so with a bit of whip cream I think they would be a hit.
Give hugs to my sweet little grandson. Love you all.

    1. Wish you were still here! I'm sure the kids will love them...let me know how it goes! Miss you!

  4. Oh, I wish we were so ambitious with breakfast during our "project weekends". That looks SO delicious! Usually we grab an egg mcmuffin and coffee on the way to Home Depot and eat it in the parking lot :(

    1. I think this is one of the most vital information for me. And i am glad reading your article. But should remark on some general things, The website style is great, the articles is really great
